Diane, former 1010 Resident, is just back from an Alaskan cruise where she married Bradley, a gentle and kind man she affectionately calls her soulmate and best friend.
They share a passion for knitting and crocheting and can spend hours together working in silence.
She met him at the Thursday night knitting club in the 1010 Centre at The Mustard Seed. A few of the woman at The Knitting Club say you could not find a kinder man. He adores Diane and treats her like a true princess.
Diane feels beautiful everyday
Diane says he makes her feel so beautiful, every single day. She never dreamed life could be this good. Diane’s story was not always so happy.
Diane comes from a place of deep trauma
She has survived over 35 years of horrific abuse at the hands of her Father and two husbands.
After fleeing for her life from her second marriage, Diane was diagnosed with a series of mental illnesses including PTSD, ADD and Borderline Personality Disorder.
After four hospital stays in the psychiatric ward, multiple attempts at suicide and being without a home, Diane had lost the will to live.
The Mustard Seed helps Diane heal
Moving into The Mustard Seed 1010 Centre was a game changer for her. It allowed her to feel safe for the first time since she was 12 years old.
It was in the safety of The Mustard Seed with support resources that Diane has been able to heal from a lifetime of trauma over the past three years.

She says The Mustard Seed saved her life
“Boris (counsellor) and the staff at The Mustard Seed saved my life,” said Diane. “I would not be here today without The Mustard Seed and I would not have this happiness without them.”
Diane has moved on now from The Mustard Seed residence and a new chapter of her life has begun. The Mustard Seed is family to Diane and she intends to keep coming back to visit us and attend the weekly knitting group with Bradley. She also continues to see Boris at the Wellness Centre for counselling.
