In Calgary, for the 11th year The Mustard Seed led a Walk of the Cross on Good Friday.
It’s a small walk which is open to everyone including our guests, volunteers and staff.
It offers people an opportunity to reflect on the question, “Do you believe in the Cross of Christ?”
David one of our Mustard Seed chaplains says, “this walk gives us an opportunity to become familiar with the real Bible story of Christ’s crucifixion and see that story from a different perspective.”
This year the Walk of the Cross featured volunteers and staff offering readings at six stations in downtown Calgary during the spiritual pilgrimage.
Chaplain David says, “the walk is important to me because it is a very different way to explore and share my faith. Sometimes, you cannot understand something until you experience it for yourself.”
In Edmonton, The Mustard Seed staff and community participants joined in the city’s outdoor Way of the Cross that stops at our Mustard Seed church building.
Each station during the Way of the Cross highlighted a theme of both challenge and hope.
Participants were asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Edmonton Food Bank. The Mustard Seed will distribute some of those donations at our Food Depot, which is part of the Edmonton Food Bank program.
Matthew 18:19-20 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
