Every year, an average of 30,000 people volunteer for The Mustard Seed. Collectively, they generously dedicate 75,000 hours of their time to serving those experiencing poverty and homelessness. That’s a lot of hours!

As this week is National Volunteer Week, we want to take a moment to recognize the impact our volunteers have in our community.

The Mustard Seed volunteers are involved in everything from serving coffee, preparing meals, sorting clothing, helping with administrative work, leading spiritual study groups, supporting medical staff, and providing shelter support. However, beyond the list of tasks and duties, our volunteers create an atmosphere of warmth and comfort for our community, and as one volunteer describes, “a little bit of sunshine in someone’s life”.

With care, compassion, and a selfless attitude, our volunteers take time out of their busy schedules because they care about their community, and they want to see homelessness and poverty in Alberta disappear. The number of volunteers at The Mustard Seed continues to grow, and year after year, we are humbled by the kindness and generosity of our community.

“Our volunteers are valuable partners of The Mustard Seed. Without them, we could not offer the programs that we do.” – Byron Bradley, Director of Central Alberta

From all of us at The Mustard Seed, we want to say thank you to our volunteers! Thank you for the work you do, for your tireless efforts, for the support you provide, and for the community you help us create.

We are deeply grateful that you choose to be a part of The Mustard Seed family. Without you, we could not continue to do the work we do.

Happy National Volunteer Week!
