Bundle up and join us on February 28 for the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) — a winterrific, family-friendly 2 km or 5 km fundraising walk in support of local charities serving people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness.
Each year in February, tens of thousands of Canadians step outside the warmth and comfort of home to shine a light of welcome and compassion in their communities. Since 2011, the Coldest Night of the Year has raised over $75 million across Canada in 190 Canadian communities.
This year, The Mustard Seed is excited to host CNOY walks in Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Medicine Hat, Saskatoon, and Kamloops!
In Red Deer, we’re especially grateful to once again partner with the Red Deer Food Bank. Together, this partnership allows us to reach more people in our community with the care and support they need.
How to Participate
There are two fun ways to be part of CNOY in 2026:
Main Event
Join us in person on February 28 at one of our official CNOY events. Walk either our 2 km or 5 km route, enjoy the support of volunteers and rest stops along the way, and warm up with a light meal at the finish line.
Offsite Walk
Prefer to walk on your own terms? Gather friends, family, or go solo and complete your walk any day in February on a route of your choosing.
There’s no registration fee to participate — everyone is welcome! All we ask is that you walk with purpose and help raise funds for our most vulnerable neighbours.
The Coldest Night of the Year is a powerful way to come together as a community, experience a small glimpse of what our guests face, and make a real difference. We would love to have you, your family, and your friends walk alongside The Mustard Seed this February.
