Calgary Services

Calgary Wellness Centre

Our Wellness Centre staff work with over 150 agencies across Calgary to provide advocacy, mental health and addiction counselling, chaplaincy, tax clinics and legal advice. Advocates also connect with guests to provide assistance when applying for Alberta Works, AISH, and obtaining referrals for clothing, prescription glasses, and legal assistance.

Calgary Foothills Shelter

The Mustard Seed meets the immediate needs of those experiencing homelessness by providing individuals with emergency shelter, food, clothing, hot showers, and hygiene supplies.

The shelter has a capacity of 370 adults every night.

The Downtown Support Centre offers services including employment support, spiritual care, mailboxes, food, and clothing. For those who are employed, we offer personal storage lockers, meal service, and bagged lunches.

The Employment Services team works closely with clients to help them find purposeful, dignified work, and financial stability. Employment coaches help individuals with skills development, resume building, job searches, employment retention assistance, and access to work attire and protective equipment.

The Mustard Seed provides opportunities to meet the spiritual needs of its community; as a Christian organization, spiritual care is the cornerstone of what we do. Our programs are welcome to everyone and are voluntary to those who seek it.

The Mustard Seed’s Housing First Model connects our community with safe, affordable housing and independent or communal living. The Mustard Seed has a total of 285 affordable housing units spread amongst four buildings: 224 units in our 1010 Centre, 30 units in our Downtown Support Centre, and 31 units in two external housing units.

Homes for Heroes ATCO Village

Edmonton Employment

The Employment Services team works closely with clients to help them find purposeful, dignifying work and financial stability. Our SEEDworks program partners with local business and organizations to provide individuals facing barriers to market employment with workplace experience and a liveable wage while learning transferable skills.

Edmonton Housing

The Mustard Seed’s Housing First Model connects community participants with safe, affordable housing and community supports.

The Mustard Seed Westwood Manor is a 20-unit permanent, supportive housing initiative that serves men and women with a history of chronic homelessness through a harm reduction model. Residents can access support staff onsite 24/7.

Edmonton Wellness

Our staff of wellness advocates help community participants navigate social support systems and provide access to other resources to improve overall wellbeing.

In order to support healthy relationships with one another, we offer our participants community-based activities including, Collective Kitchen, Women’s Lunch Circle, Laughter Yoga, Foot Care, Dinner Club, Men’s Breakfast, and many others.

Edmonton Reintegration

The Mustard Seed’s Open Door Welcome Centre is available for former inmates who face barriers to obtaining housing and employment as they reintegrate into the community. Our reintegration chaplains journey with those transitioning from prison and we seek to be an open door where they can imagine a new future.

Kamloops Services

Kamloops Wellness

Nurse Practitioners provide the highest standard of medical care at The Mustard Seed and are able to diagnose, consult, interpret tests, prescribe, and treat health conditions for our vulnerable guests and clients.

Kamloops The Mustard Seed Outreach Centre

Our Outreach Centre has provided poverty relief services in the city since 1980. Clients can access advocacy and support services through the Outreach Centre, as well as nourishing meals and other essential material resources.

Men’s Supportive Living Program offers housing, meals, and supports in a sober environment for men working to rebuild their lives after addiction and/or homelessness. There are 17 private bedrooms and a shared common living space where residents can enjoy time together.

Red Deer Wellness Centre

The barriers preventing people from transitioning out of poverty and homelessness are as unique as the individuals facing them. Our wellness advocate breaks down these barriers by meeting with clients to determine which programs and services best meet their needs. These health and wellness services include counselling; medical doctor and nurses; assistance with obtaining ID, employment, income support, and housing; community resources; drop-in programming; and much more.

Red Deer School Lunch Program

The Mustard Seed School Lunch Program ensures youth experiencing poverty receive healthy nutritious lunches during the school year. The program makes and delivers approximately 350 meals to low-income students, each day.

THE MUSTARD SEED COMMUNITY HUBS

We recognize that poverty is no longer confined within the blocks of our downtown cores and we understand the value of going out into communities and providing supports to those in need. Located in Edmonton and Calgary, our three community hubs create a greater sense of community and well-being that emphasize the importance of prevention in the fight to eliminate homelessness and reduce poverty. These hubs act as a welcoming community space and offer a variety of services from a cup of coffee, to employment support, workshops, after-school programming, and much more.
