Stampede 2019 For The Win

Our post-parade Stampede BBQ once again brought out the best in our neighbours and city! For our 12th straight year, we served-up hot beef on a bun to over 2,800 people who came out to share our piece of the Stampede spirit; some country music, competitive fun, and a sense of community.

Friends and families joined us on Centre Street where we were privileged for the second year in a row to have local talent Tim Buckley and Mariel Buckley perform their soul-filled country. Meanwhile, the Outlaw Country dance team had everyone brush up on their line dancing skills, and our indigenous neighbours honoured us with their beautiful and mesmerizing traditional dance.

Face painting, horse races (stuffed – of course), a petting zoo, and a chilling dunk tank were a few of our favourite activities, with special thank-yous to the brave heroes who volunteered to suit-up for the dunk tank – our CEO being one of them!

Mustard Seed Event Specialist, Amanda, said this years’ BBQ had to have been one of the best yet. “The food is always a huge hit. Feeding almost 3,000 people isn’t an easy task, but the staff and volunteers made sure it was served hot and delicious as ever.”

To our volunteers, donors, friends and family – THANK YOU for joining us in celebration with our community, and coming out to experience and learn about the hope we help build for people experiencing homelessness and/or poverty.
