Programs & Events
1. Adult ESL: in person
- Run by our volunteer, Vanessa every Wednesday from 10:30am-noon
- Improve English skills in a conversational, relaxed environment
- Designed for beginner to intermediate English speakers
2. BINGO
- Our Spiritual Care Chaplain, David, runs Bingo every other Thursday at 1:00pm
- Play Bingo for prizes (typically gift cards), followed by optional spiritual care
- Everyone is welcome, regardless of religious beliefs
3. Children and Youth
- Homework Club: Pre-registered program for children in the area, age Grade 3-12. Tutoring, extra workbook exercises, quiet study space, snacks and much more! Parent is required to sign consent upon arrival. School Calendar only.
- Little Readers: Pre-registered program for children in the area, age Kindergarten-Grade 2. Teachers are available to improve/ teaching reading skills. Library books are available to take home. Parent is required to sign consent upon arrival. School Calendar only.
- Summer day camps: One week camp for children attending Kindergarten to Grade 6. Activities and Games are to build children’s confidence, leadership skills, and team work. Snacks are provided. Eligibility screening upon registration. July and August only.
- Rock the Nations: Youth empowerment program for students attending Grade 7-9. Run October to December and February to April.
- Back-to-School Backpack giveaway: Backpack and school supplies giveaway for eligible families. Summer only.
- Kids/ Teens ESL Conversational Group: conversational English class for young ESL speakers aged 8+ years. It is a virtual online class only. (Weekly)
4. Clothing Pop-Up Stores
- We run seasonal pop-up clothing stores out of both Marlborough Park & Manchester locations
- By registration only, pay $5 and fill a large garbage bag with clothing items (no limit)

5. Drop-in Employment Support
- Our volunteers can help with resumes, cover letter writing, job search, and mock job interviews
- Fridays from 9:00-12:00pm with Grant), and Tuesdays at 1-4pm with Ward.
- By appointment or walk-in, if available
6. Drop in Support/ Quick Help:
- Laptop Usage: see our Chromebook laptops to check out your email, build resume, school related project, etc. Enjoy FREE Wi-fi (daily)
- Sewing Machine Usage: Our sewing machine is available for your own use. The machine is not available for you to take home. Note: This is NOT a Sewing Class. Volunteers and staff may not be available to teach you how to use it.
- Resume Help: Meet with our employment volunteer for a quick resume and cover letter writing, or to practice your job interview skills. Although walk-ins are welcome, appointments are encouraged to ensure you have a spot.
- Tax Clinic: Meet with our Tax volunteer. He is ready for your questions about taxes and/or to file your income tax. Eligible individuals only.
7. ESL
- Kids ESL: virtual on ZOOM!
- Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30pm
- Conversational ESL for kids ages 7-12 and for teens is 13-18
8. Food Security:
- Emergency Food Hamper
- COBS Bread: free fresh bread donated by COBS Bread
- Good Food Box (by Communiy Kitchen): offers affordable seasonal vegetables and fruits: 20-25lbs for $25 | 30-35lbs for $30 | 40-45lbs for $35. Cash only.
9. Good Food Box
- Purchase fresh produce at affordable pricing – order & pick up at the Neighbour Centre monthly
- 20-25lbs for $25, 30-35lbs for $30, 40-45lbs for $35
- Talk to staff for registration & payment
10. Homework Club & Little Readers
- Students in Kindergarten-Grade 12 can come for assistance with homework, tutoring, or just a quiet place to get their homework done
- Mondays from 4:30-5:30 or 5:30-6:30 by registration only (ask Jordan)
11. Literacy
- Conversational Group: a great place to improve your English conversational skills (beginner and intermediate). (Weekly)
- Kids/ Teens ESL Conversation Group: conversational English class for young ESL speakers aged 8+ years. It is a virtual online class only. Please email MPNC@theseed.ca to sign up. (Weekly)
- Spanish Class: Whether you know nothing about Spanish language or can speak basic Spanish, come by to learn the language with a native speaker for FREE. (Weekly)
- Reading & Writing Circles: great class for people looking to brush up on grammar, writing skills and overall reading skills. Facilitated by FESA.
12. Monthly Tax Clinic
- Our volunteer, Alnasir, can assist clients who are in need of filing more than 1 year of taxes

13. Other:
- BINGO
- Minute to Win it Games
- Sewing Class: Learn how to fix your ripped clothes, how to do basic sewing, make your own masks, bow, etc
- Library Books at TMS: Calgary Public Library (CPL) will drop off new books bi-weekly. Borrow the books and return them at the centre with no late! Books for all ages are available. We accept book requests.
Pop up Stores: affordable seasonal clothes for all ages.
Community Newsletter
14. ROCK the Nation
- Youth empowerment program for youth in grades 7-9 (Jr. High)
- By registration only, runs Wednesdays from 5:00-7:00pm
- Done for the year, will restart in September 2022
15. Spanish Class
- Adults-only Spanish class is run by our volunteer, Aurora every Tuesday from 4:30-6:00pm. Beginner friendly! Come learn through conversation and interactive lessons!
16. Spiritual Care
- Our Chaplain is available for any spiritual conversation, questions, or if you need prayer requests. All faith welcome.
- Client can contact our Chaplain, David, at 403-462-0704 or DavidS@theseed.ca
- Invite them to join spiritual care Bingo every other Thursday at 1:00pm
- We usually have Bibles available under the tv. Let a staff member know if there are none left
