Job Fair Gives Hope to the Unemployed

The long lines at the job fair were a reminder of the great need for employment during this difficult economic time.

On March 21, with the hard work of our employment team, our job fair provided opportunities for people to network with representatives from six companies.

“We guide our clients towards finding work,” says Melissa Fonseka, an employment coach with The Mustard Seed.

Employment coaches were on site encouraging those attending to sign up for our employment program, which provides assistance with resumes and cover letters, interview preparation and other skills that give clients the tools they need to succeed in gaining and sustaining employment.

Camille Villanoeva, a Human Resources supervisor at UPS says that they chose to attend this job fair because her company has a range of entry-level positions that are perfect for those who may not have a great deal of formal education.

“We give people the tools they need to work here (at UPS),” says Villanoeva.

Our Mustard Seed employment team works hard to develop partnerships with organizations in the city so that they can connect people in need of employment to job opportunities. If your organization is interested in partnering with our Employment Centre, please email us at [email protected]

A big thank you to all of the companies who participated: UPS, Talentcor, Adecco, Guardian Condominium Care, Calgary Stampede and McDonald’s.
