The Heart of The Mustard Seed: Celebrating Our Volunteers

At The Mustard Seed, we believe that volunteers are the heart of our organization. As we work to eliminate homelessness and reduce poverty where we serve, the impact of our volunteers is not just visible in our numbers, but it is seen through every cup of coffee, conversation, and connection made.

Whether it is through providing a warm meal to the guests we serve, sorting donations, organizing food pickups, or sitting down to listen, volunteers create a space where people feel seen and valued. Small acts, done consistently, build trust and restore a sense of belonging that many loose while experiencing homelessness. Volunteers truly are part of what turns services into community at The Mustard Seed.

"I’ve been blessed with a heart for serving others, and it’s a privilege to give back for all God has done in my life. Being able to brighten someone’s day with a smile means I’ve fulfilled my purpose. It’s essential that they feel God’s love through my amazing team of volunteers and me. Every time I come to The Mustard Seed, I’m reminded of how God rescued me from my past and how boundless His love is for each of us."

- Debbie, a valued volunteer

Despite busy schedules, work, and personal responsibilities, our volunteers continue to show up with compassion and respect.

In 2025, across our seven cities, we had 5,204 people volunteer 95,771 hours in total.

We are truly grateful for the time and effort volunteers put in. Their work and contributions help restore dignity and build a more united community. For more information about our volunteering opportunities, visit https://theseed.ca/volunteer.
